Naturally, anyone performing a live gig wants it go smoothly without any troubles. Simply remember the couple of tips i'm giving you and you would be on your way to a simple, hasslefree and entertaining performance.
Make sure your power equipment is entirely adequate. It can get a little dangerous if you are not familiar with the plug-sockets and sources of power. Safe-guard yourself by investing in a power conditioner. Carry it with you irrespective where you go. If you use one live, it could be the very thing that will save that favorite tool of yours. It is not a bad idea to get into the habit of using one all the time, even at home, to protect against power surges. If you are not utilising this then you might want to power with all batteries. If so, then dont forget to bring backups.
Things could get misplaced quite easily. So be sure to preserve your patches else where besides the genuine synthesiser. You should do this even if you dont have a live gig because something can go wrong with your synthesizer.
Don't skimp on your furniture supports. Make sure to use strongly constructed keyboard stands. The best to use is the double braced x-style types. The ones that're constructed for multiple key boards. Be sure to have good rack mount and flight cases. This is 1 area that you don't want to cut costs. You truly can't afford to have your tool broken by accidents.
Make sure your analogue gear or analogue key boards are not old. They wont keep a tune, they could stop to work at any one time, and a couple of them don't even have patch storage. If you're going to be doing live gigs then you need the right up-to-date equipment. Remember that modular synthesizers are not feasible too.
Plan for the future. For instance, create your patches on some other synths prior to the event. It can be a life saver as well as great practise for your programing endeavors.
Dont be caught without spare cables. A couple of musician that plays an electrical instrument will tell you that. Key board synthesizer musicians have to rely on these cables to carry their sounds out to the spectators. If money is tight and you cant afford too many then at the least have some 6.35mm with you.
Do yourself a favor and simply bring the synths that you absolutely need. That way there is less equipment to take care of. Plan ahead of what you'll need. Remember to take out whatever extra expansion or memory cards out of the synths.
Give numerous thought to your ear monitoring. You must be able to hear your music and that of your bands when playing live. You need to determine if the onstage monitors would be good enough. If you're not convinced of this then consider using headphones. This could be low-priced if you consider Shure EC range in ear monitoring buds.
If youre going to utilize any synthesiser then make sure you've your personalised mixer. That way it keeps your area presentable because it eliminates are the strings of cables, and keeps you in a position to be able to control the synthesiser levels. It is fundamental to have your individual key board sub mixer.
